Before you ever commit to selling your niche website, the first step is to gather information and find out the value of your site. Specifically, you should get a few quotes to see how much your site could potentially sell for.
But what if you’re not sure you even want to sell?
If that’s true, then you’re probably not ready for an actual quote from anybody. Again, these ballpark figures will help you decide whether the site is worth selling right now, but even after you get an official quote, it’s still just information. No matter which marketplace or service you contact, a quote is just an offer – and you’re under no obligation to sell unless you like the offer.
Assuming you choose to get a quote, the rest of this post will focus on the process of selling a site with Motion Invest.
Once you’ve decided you’d like a quote from Motion Invest, the process couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is visit Motion Invest’s seller page here, follow the onscreen process, and submit the form.
Once you start filling out the form, you’ll see a simple series of questions for you to answer. If you want an accurate and timely quote from the team, you should make sure to include everything it asks for.
With this financial and analytics data, we’ll have what we need to tell you if we’re interested in your site. After fully going through your submission, our due diligence team may reach out to for more information to make a final decision.
After you’ve provided your site information, we may be able to give you an answer right away (which is Step 4).
But in other cases, our due diligence team will reach out with some more questions for you. Maybe they need to clarify a few things, or what they saw sparked the need for additional information from you.
For example, they may need exports from Amazon or they may need a quick video showing the income to double verify the numbers you originally shared with us.
This whole step is designed to make sure that all of the data you’ve shared is accurate, so that we can give you an appropriate offer.
Once the due diligence is officially done on your site, the due diligence team will reach out with either an offer or letting you know we are not interested in buying your site.
If we’re not interested right now, this doesn’t mean we would never buy your site – but we do go by certain internal numbers to make sure the site is worth buying on our end and for our own buyers. You may need to spend some more time building up your site before trying to sell again.
On the other hand, if we are interested, then congratulations – you’ll receive an official offer for your content site! Now, you have to decide if the offer works for you and you’re ready to finish the selling process with Motion Invest.
Even up to this stage, you can always decide you’d rather not sell. But hopefully, you’ll be excited about the offer you get and are ready to move forward!
As soon as you accept the offer, we will send over an Asset Purchase agreement. This is a legal document outlining a few specific things that we are buying. This includes:
Depending on your own business, we may have a few other items in the APA. This document also specifies the price point we’ve agreed on to purchase these items.
If everything looks good to you, then all you have to do is sign the document and send it back to us. With that, your website is officially sold!
Once you have signed the APA and sent it back to us, we will process it. Then, the next step will be getting you in touch with our transfer team.
The transfer team’s role is to facilitate the transfer process, getting all of the passwords, accounts, and intellectual property from the website over to Motion Invest. The good news is, they will walk you through how to send everything over and how to transfer the domain to us.
It may take a little time to finish transferring so many different things, but we have experts that will help you get it all done in a timely manner so you can get your payment.
Once the transfer process is complete, we will then send the payment we agreed to in your offer via wire transfer or PayPal.
And that’s all there is to it! After transfer is done and you’ve got your payment for the sale of the site, Motion Invest will own your website until we find another buyer.
And if we don’t find a buyer for whatever reason? It’s still our website – you’re free and clear, and able to focus on what’s next in your business.
