What would you do to grow this site?

I consulted an SEO expert (Jay Yap from LeadSpring), and he recommended adding more content and focus on building links There are numerous low-competition buying keywords to target across all categories.

It’s easy to find products to expand the site. I found it easy to get high-value backlinks through HARO because the site can be considered an authority in the niche. If I had assets, I would focus on building links for high-return keywords where the products are expensive (for example, best canister vacuum for pet hair, our best selling product on this page has been Miele vacuum worth 900usd+). There are multiple such pages to work on this site.

The quality of the content across the site is high IMHO, and conversions and revenue have been great, considering the traffic. So if you get the rankings up (add links?), it will make a big difference in income.

I would start an email list

I would add ads after growing the site

I would try to diverse the source of traffic as well.

Is the site built on an expired domain?

I started the site from scratch in 2017 on a new domain.

What has been your biggest struggle with this site?

This is the first site I built, and I’ve had to learn everything from scratch, which took a lot of time and resources from actually building and growing the site. I work full-time, and building sites has never been my passion and something I wanted to focus on. So I would say my biggest struggle has been a combination of the lack of knowledge in building sites, not wanting to put my time and effort into this, and not having enough assets to outsource this fully. Also, outsourcing hasn’t been an option because I don’t have experience with it.

What is included with the site?

How much time do you spend on the site? What tasks do you do?

During the past year, I have only added maybe five articles, updated another five, and written some HARO pitches. No other link building or content creation has been done.

Do you outsource the content? If yes, are you able to pass along the writer?

Almost all of the content is written by me. However, one article ( has been recently outsourced in the grooming category, and I’m happy to pass along the writer (a veterinarian).

I haven’t accepted any guest posts/sponsored posts/link insertions

How did you build your backlinks? Were PBN's used?

I bought 10 BPN-links when I started this site (2017) and didn’t know any better. But all of these links have been disavowed since.

I had a monthly guest posting service from Authority Builders in early 2020 for a couple of months.

I’ve done a few guest posts over the years through outreaching sites

The best (and totally free!) method has been sending HARO pitches – I’ve managed to get links from sites like HealthLine, HuffPost,, Bustle, Cosmopolitan, Also, media outlets have approached me directly several times.

How many total articles are on the site?

What are the expenses that are associated with the site? Specifically, what are the expenses that come from content creation, hosting, backlinks and domain registration?

I have hosting at BigScoots, two sites under one account, 35usd monthly altogether.

Yearly domain renewal has been about 10usd

I’ve created the content myself, but I paid 50 euros per 2000 words to the veterinarian for the one grooming-related article I mentioned above.

Currently, no expenses from creating backlinks.

I’ve also used Beaver Builder and some paid plugins (such as AmaLinks Pro, WP Rocket, and Affiliatable,) which are, of course, optional.
